Wasatch County, home to Heber City and Midway
Wasatch County is the second-fastest growing county in Utah, and fourth in the nation, having grown 5.3 percent during 2016-17. One reason is the beautiful, scenic valley with views of 11,752-foot Mount Timpanogos from most anywhere. Another, is that Wasatch County is a convenient place to live for those commuting to Park City via Highway 40 and Silicon Slopes jobs via Provo Canyon or who desire a more relaxed pace and attractive real estate value. It’s also a Mecca for mountain recreation with easy access to skiing, trails, and golf. A golfer’s paradise, the Heber Valley features five, 18-hole championship golf courses – including Crater Springs Golf Course at the Homestead Resort, Soldier Hollow’s Gold and Silver Courses, and Wasatch Mountain State Park’s Mountain and Lake Courses.
Mayflower, a major development in the beginning stages, is generating enormous excitement in the community. Located just west of Jordanelle Reservoir, this luxury resort encompassing 2,300 acres is slated to be built over the next 40 years. The ski in, ski out development will be located on the south side of Deer Valley, bridging together Wasatch and Summit Counties. Plans call for four hotels and 250,000 square feet of commercial space.
While Utah may be one of the driest states, water recreation is abundant in Wasatch County thanks to two reservoirs – Deer Creek and Jordanelle – popular for boating and other water activities. The scenic Provo River that meanders
through Provo Canyon is perfect for rafting, kayaking and fly fishing.
The Robert Redford-owned Sundance Resort offers both winter and summer recreation. From live entertainment to fly fishing in the summer months, to world-class skiing and fine dining in the winter, Sundance Resort is a picturesque backdrop for a day visit or an extended stay in one of their personal cabins.
There are ten public schools in Wasatch County serving approximately 7,000 students and one private, special education school, serving approximately 24 students.
